We stand waiting
In this motion we call life
Not quite knowing where we are
Are we standing still
Or hurtling at a million miles per hour
Through space?
Are we filled with purpose
Or simply filling time?
Are we meeting Life
Or blotting it all out?
We stand waiting
For the Earth to move
For the winds to shift
For the sky to fall
For the end is near
And the time has come
For us to fall from our ignorant throne
To where we live
On the Earth
With the dirt
And the creatures
With the food and the waste
In the wetness and the desert.
Have we forgotten?
We stand waiting
For the earth to shake our minds loose
For the rain to pour through us
And wash away every hate-filled thought.
We stand waiting
For the fire to eat
What does not nourish
And leave us here
Or not here
Bitter
Or cleansed.
We wait
For someone to tell us
It's OK to breathe
To stand or run
To be afraid or safe.
Have we forgotten?
That we are Life Itself unfolding
That we are already home
In this moment
As it is
With the falling sky
And the shaking land.
Have we forgotten?
That Life will never fail us
That we are The Infinite
Trapped or Free
Lost or Listening
Here
Or nowhere at all.
